5 stars for the continued story of the Winchester brothers.Supernatural cover

Created by Eric Kripke (Revolution, Boogeyman), Supernatural tells the story of Sam (Jared Padalecki – Friday The 13th, House Of Wax) and Dean (Jensen Ackles – My Bloody Valentine, Smallville) Winchester, who have taken over their father’s mantle as hunters, raised to hunt demons, monsters and evil spirits.

Supernatural: The Complete Ninth Season continues the ongoing battle between good and evil in epic style, as the battle is brought to Earth, after Metatron (Curtis Armstrong – Ray, Southland Tales) expels all the Angels from heaven. Supernatural Castiel humanThey fall to Earth, angry, lost and in need of human bodies to occupy, but still with many of their powers intact. Trouble is inevitable.

Also cast down is Castiel (Misha Collins – Girl, Interrupted, Karla) who has unfortunately lost his grace courtesy of Metatron. He still has Dean and Sam to back him up however, but now he has to learn how to become a human.

In the meantime, Sam has been badly hurt during aSupernatural Gedriel previous battle and Dean has been forced to allow an angel to possess his body in order to save his life. This was never going to be a popular decision, as they know nothing about the Angel in question and as a result, their relationship could be threatened. Dean is being drawn towards the darkness as a result of his current quest and life becomes ever more difficult for the brothers.

Supernatural CrowleyJust to make things even more exciting, they have been forced to move back to the bunker, where they now, rather magnificently, have the King of Hell, Crowley (Mark Sheppard – In The Name Of The Father, Unstoppable) locked in the basement. He is a potentially important but not necessarily reliable source of information, unfortunately he has problems of his own. Abaddon (Alaina Huffman – Dog Lover’s Symphony, Painkiller Jane), another Lord of Hell has designs on his throne while he’s away and it’s tough to fight while you’re locked up.

Supernatural Sam and DeanWith the Angels and Demons all on Earth and splitting into rival factions, Sam, Dean and Castiel must find a way to re-open the gates of heaven and get them all home before a war breaks out that will drag humanity along, destroying all in their path.

This is a brilliant series. It has everything that you want from something of this genre, lots of monsters and fight scenes but also lots of black comedy. They also having a knack of knowing where to put the serious moments (and their are plenty of those too) without having them disrupt the flow of the story.

A most excellent job, keep it up! Can’t wait for Season 10, this is definitely one to add to your collection, but if you aren’t already a Supernatural fan, why not? This would be a great time to start!
