3 star ninja action as things begin to get serious.

Naruto Shippuden is an ongoing anime series based on the Manga by Masashi Kishimoto and directed by Hayato Date.

It tells the story of a young shinobi called Naruto Uzumaki (Maile Flanagan) from the hidden leaf village. He is a Jinchuriki, who contains the nine tails within him. Along with the other shinobi from his village they learn and grow together as they try to keep their loved ones and the world at large safe.

The usual spoiler alerts apply here, we are well into the story so don’t read on unless you’re all caught up to this point.

Naruto Shippuden Box 32 comprises episodes 402-415 and continues and concludes the flashback arc “In Naruto’s Footsteps: The Friends’ Paths”, before eventually returning us the present and the current storyline “Birth of the Ten Tails Jinchuriki” arc.

We see the second Chunin exams, designed as an attempt to draw the Akatsuki out of hiding. Naruto is not present as he is away training with Jiraiya and at this point Sasuke has already defected to Orochimaru’s village.

The ninjas are separated into teams in order to obtain scrolls and must fight it out using their various techniques. We also find out more about Gaara and his past.

Those who are actually trying to follow the story will be pleased to hear that the final two episodes return to the current situation and back to the fate of a mortally wounded Naruto and Sasuke.

This is an obvious must own for fans, but it’s a little frustrating the way they go off at a tangent every time things start to get really interesting. Let’s hope the next one gets back to business.

“After all, we have absolutely no idea what this stranger might be planning to do to Sasuke. Is this where his wind ceases to blow?”

Naruto Shippuden Box 32 is available to buy now on DVD.
