4 stars, an adrenaline pumping screenlife heist film.
Life Hack is a 2026 independent action, crime, thriller film co-written by Hope Elliot Kemp and Ronan Corrigan, who also directs this very impressive feature debut.
It is exclusively in UK Vue Cinemas from 15th May 2026, courtesy of Triple Media Film and Source Entertainment.
“Mr. Peters, the purpose of this hearing is to determine, if granted supervised access to the Internet, whether you are likely to reoffend…”
Kyle (Georgie Farmer – Wednesday (TV Series), Ready Player One) is a seventeen year old computer expert, who pases his days online with his group of friends, Alex (Yasmin Finney – Doctor Who (TV Series), Hello Stranger), Sid (Roman Hayeck-Green – Empire of Light) and Petey (James Scholz – debut). Together, they enjoy trolling online scammers and of course gaming together.
But bearing in mind that all the tech greats had set up their empires by the age of 19, Kurt feels that his chances are slipping away. Bombarded with news stories about billionaire Don Heard (Charlie Creed-Miles – The Fifth Element, Harry Brown) and his cryptocoin empire, he hatches a cunning plan. Using all of their skills combined and mining data from the social media account of his daughter Lyndsey (Jessica Reynolds – Kneecap, Underscore), they will steal the contents of his crypto wallet.
Everything seems to have gone well, but Lyndsey is far more clued up than they had bargained for, and Don Heard is far more ruthless than they could ever have imagined. Blackmailed by Lyndsey, the four embark on an extremely risky international bitcoin heist. Will they get away with it?
“I told the police you have hostages. Now, you listen, I speak. Your office is about to be raided. This is your heads up.”
Life Hack is a really excellent watch. Screenlife as a genre can be a hit and miss and while it won’t be for everyone, this is the best example of the format that I have seen.
The relationships between the characters are well explained, they’re well rounded and the script and storyline are both clever and innovative. It builds the tension brilliantly, somehow watching a heist through a computer screen is made to feel higher stakes than it would otherwise be.
It also perfectly captures the dynamic of a group of older teenagers, soon to become adults and uncertain of how to find their way in the world. It’s easy to understand how cybercrime can feel like the easy option, but a little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing.
Really good fun and well worth a trip to the cinema.
“Out of the three of us, if you had a million dollars, who would you split it with?”
