5 Star
The Grand Finale.
Well, thank you Fetch Publicity for delivering this famous gritty TV Series from the 1970s, this is the fourth and final series from 1978, and we can enjoy these fourteen fully restored episodes. The grit is grittier, the colour is sharper, but nothing is as sharp as Regan’s tongue. With nearly twelve hours of action, this is the finale to a decade defining cop show. Absolutely awesome.
Regan and Carter are in for some interesting times ahead as they sift through the detritus of the seedier side of the criminal fraternity. Where they come across some very famous faces up against them, with Diana Dors (Oliver Twist, The Amazing Mr. Blunden), Edward Judd (The Day the Earth Caught Fire, First Men in the Moon), George Sewell (Get Carter, Barry Lyndon), Barbara Ewing (Dracula Has Risen from the Grave, Eye of the Needle), Jenny Runacre (The Lady Vanishes, Jubilee), Richard Wilson (One Foot in the Grave (TV Series), A Passage to India), Joss Ackland (The Hunt for Red October, Lethal Weapon 2), Geoffrey Palmer (The Madness of King George, Tomorrow Never Dies), Michael Elphick (Withnail and I, The Elephant Man), Eric Morecambe (The Intelligence Men), Ernie Wise (Night Train to Murder), Jenny Quayle (Keep It in the Family (TV Series), Heidi (TV Mini Series)), Lynda La Plante (Widows, Trial & Retribution), George Innes (The Italian Job, Stardust), Richard Griffiths (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The History Boys).
Regan and Carter will face opposition from robbers, blackmailers, murderers, smugglers, and their own force. With plenty of familiar faces helping or hindering the Flying Squad, you are in for a smorgasbord of nostalgia as the Sweeney do their thing.
