4 stars for the uncompromising continuation of the Ninja war.
Naruto Shippuden is an ongoing anime series based on the Manga by Masashi Kishimoto and directed by Hayato Date.
Box Set 24 comprises episodes 297-308 and takes place during the Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation Arc.
The usual spoiler alert applies here, we are well into the story , so don’t read on unless you’re all caught up.
The war is now well under way and Kabuto’s re-animation Jutsu continues to wreak havoc, as the previous Kage attack the Allied Shinobi forces against their will. Their minds are still theirs, but their bodies and powers are manipulated by Kabuto (Henry Dittman).
Lord Gaara (Liam O’Brien – Bleach) and the Fourth Division face their biggest challenge yet as the Fourth Hokage (Gaara’s father), the Second Mizukage and the Third Raikage are closing in on their position.
Happily for all those concerned, Naruto (Maile Flanagan – Pig Goat Banana Cricket) and Killer B (Catero Colbert) have now completed Naruto’s training and have finally been given the all clear to enter the field of conflict.
Naruto is now able to use his Chakra mode as he has control of the Nine Tails. He is a very different fighter to the one who left for training all those months ago. He wastes no time in sending off clones to each of the battles while he himself is in for a shock in the form of the resurrected Nagato (Vic Mignogna – Space Dandy) and Itachi Uchiha (Crispin Freeman – Noein: To Your Other Self).
The combined powers of all the greatest Kage who ever lived are proving tricky for the Allied Shinobi forces to deal with, however, very entertainingly, they are more than happy to help them out, as they don’t want to be fighting them anyway.
There are some very amusing fight sequences involving the Kage directing the battles and explaining all their moves and weaknesses to their opponents, even chastising them for not listening and acting on their advice.
This is a great continuation of the story, there are no fillers of any kind and there are plenty of shocks and surprises in store for the avid Naruto fan.
An obvious must own for the Naruto Shippuden fans out there and well worth adding to your collection, just a shame it’s not available on Blu-ray.
