The Sweeney, Harder Hitting than Earnie Shavers.

1 September 1975 and series two of the Sweeney hits Thames television. With Regan (John Thaw, A Year In Provence, Inspector Morse) and Carter (Dennis Waterman, New Tricks, Minder) and the rest of the Flying Squad keeping the streets of London safe. This time there are more shooters, more tyre-screeches and it gets personnel. With plenty of familiar faces from 1975 that are now legends in UK TV and international films. Sit back and get ready for that instantly recognisable Harry South (The Chinese Detective, Give Us a Break) theme tune.

Join the Sweeney and see the World!

With series two, The Sweeney goes bigger and a bit faster as Regan and Carter go after the bad guys in their Jags, Ford Transits and Ford Cortina’s. With Regan’s hard hitting and sometimes renegade approach to his job, that always rubs his boss Haskins (Garfield Morgan, 28 Weeks Later, The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain) up the wrong way, but his oppo Carter will always have his back.

In series two, our dynamic duo will have to deal with highway robbery, daylight robbery, greedy snitches, false accusations, personal tragedy, conspiracy, foreign thieves, art thieves, just to mention a few and TV stars of the day are just lined-up to join in the action and skulduggery, such as Lesley-Anne Down (The First Great Train Robbery, The Pink Panther Strikes Again), Colin Welland (Straw Dogs, Chariots of Fire (writer)), Bill Maynard (Carry on Dick, Carry on at Your Convenience), Patrick Troughton (The Omen, Jason and the Argonauts), Stephanie Turner (Z Cars (TV Series), Juliet Bravo), Kenneth Colley (Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi), Liz Smith (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Royle Family (TV Series)), and Mr Bronson before he was Mr Bronson, Michael Sheard (Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, Grange Hill).

Don’t stamp your foot too hard, darling, it rattles the neighbour’s chandelier.

This release from Old Gold Media via Fetch Publicity is eleven hours of nostalgia, you can’t beat it.

First murder case I worked on was over an Ace of Spades.

All this is brought to you by the watchful eye of co-writer Ian Kennedy Martin (Sweeney 2, Juliet Bravo)

“WE WANNA TALK TO YOU!”
