Multi Award Winning Writer/Director Marcellus Cox (Mickey Hardaway, I’m Sorry), contacted RRR with his new short based on a true story and following in his vein of bringing his audiences controversial storytelling, touching on subjects such as Race, Religion, Social & Political. This time it is the story of an Ex-US Marine, who, like many others all across the Globe, suffers from the effects of excessive drinking and the winding road to sobriety.

Eddie (Antwone Barnes, Teacher of the Year, Paper Boy (Short)) is unconscious on his bed, lying in his clothes and surrounded by empty beer bottles, he’s snoring when his phone alarm goes off. Eventually he wakes up and turns the alarm off, before sorting out his morning routine. As he goes around his house, you can tell by his body language that he has done something wrong, as he slumps into his settee.

There is a repeated knock at the door and his name is called out. It’s Baker (Sean Alexander James, The Morning Show (TV Series), CSI: Vegas (TV Series)), he is a very important man in Eddie’s life, as he has been supporting him for the last three-hundred-and-sixty-five days.

As Baker has had trouble getting hold of Eddie since he failed to show up for his one-year anniversary of giving up the drink, he has been given Eddie’s door key by his mother, who also cares about Eddie’s well-being. Baker accuses Eddie of being drunk and slipping off the ‘wagon’.

I’m not drunk, I’m, I’m buzzed.

Baker has got his work cut out for himself as Eddie is fed up with life in general, and he doesn’t see the point of sobriety.

But it takes dedication from the sufferer and the mentor to get the desired result, there will be many lows, but when the high’s come it is worth the struggle. Liquor Bank is an intense look into the day-to-day struggles that sufferers go through, that most people don’t get to see or encounter.

Liquor Bank is an eye-opener, another powerful short from the multi award-winning writer/ director Marcellus Cox.

Liquor Bank will be hitting the festival circuit this spring.
