3 star atmospheric and creepy horror.
It Feeds is a 2025 supernatural horror film written and directed by Chad Archibald (I’ll Take Your Dead, Bite).
This low budget but very well executed horror is available to stream on UK Digital Platforms from 12th May 2025, courtesy of Signature Entertainment.
“Larry, you can leave. The door is open. I can’t let you out, only you can, when you’re ready. Larry, you are in control here. He has no power over you, you just have to see.”
Cynthia (Ashley Greene – Twilight, Aftermath) runs a small town psychiatric clinic with the help of her teenage daughter Jordan (Ellie O’Brien – My Life With The Walter Boys(TV Series)). Unknown to most of the townsfolk, there is another side to the business, she has powerful psychic abilities. One of her clients for this particular side of the business is Larry (Dov Tiefenbach – About A Teacher, All My Puny Sorrows), who has issues with a former sports coach. During his session, we see the danger behind what Cynthia does, her arm is injured inside Larry’s mind and the injury transfers to her physical body.
His post session recovery is rudely interrupted by banging on the door, it’s a young girl, Riley (Shayelin Martin – Magnetosphere, Wild Goat Surf) who insists she needs to see Cynthia. A former client Agatha (Juno Rinaldi – The Invisibles) has recommended that her father Randall (Shawn Ashmore – Acts of Violence, Darkness Falls) should bring her. Jordan carries out the initial assessment but it soon becomes clear that she requires more than simple psychiatric help.
Cynthia sees a terrifying entity attached to Riley, but before she can do anything, Randall comes in and snatches her away, insisting they do not need any help. Unwilling to let it go Jordan pursues the matter, but what is she getting them all into and will they be able to deal with this powerful adversary?
“Yeah, I didn’t need to look inside that girl today to see what was attached to her. That’s makes it dangerous.”
It Feeds is a very well written and put together film. The inspirations behind the idea are obvious, but while it doesn’t really bring any surprises to the genre, it nevertheless feels modern and fresh and retains plenty of it’s own identity.
It boasts an excellent cast who perform very well, the mother daughter dynamic is very believable and there’s a welcome appearance from Julian Richings (Vicious Fun, A Christmas Horror Story).
It sets out its stall early on and there are few big reveals after that, but the atmospherics and tension are well built, through artful use of lighting and cinematography. What really makes this film though is the creature itself, it’s a brave move to bring your film terrors into the light for us to have a good look at and it really pays off here.
A slick and enjoyable film, fans of jump scares and dark corners will really appreciate this one. Well worth a watch.
“I see things…a thing. It’s dark, like a person but not. It stares at me. Like a starving dog.”
