You Can Choose a Brother.

It’s the late 1980s and hedonism is the buzz word around the World, as everybody wants to have lots of money and power. Actor, Director Tung Cho ‘Joe’ Cheung (The True Hero, The Banquet) brings us an action packed ninety-nine minutes, with fan favourites Chow Yun-Fat (Wild Search, RICH AND FAMOUS / TRAGIC HERO) and Alan Tang (Days of Being Wild, As Tears Go By) working together they bring the swagger of attitude of a great Hong Kong, Macau and Thailand film. Claret everywhere, love it.

 

As young kids, Chang Ho-Tien (Chow Yun-Fat) and Alan Chen Wai-Lun (Alan Tang) live on the streets, getting by any way they can, but mostly stealing. During one of these raids on a nunnery Chang meets Ho Ka-Hsi (Patricia Ha, Nomad, An Amorous Woman of Tang Dynasty), who catches him stealing rice, but doesn’t give him away. After that, she brings the pair spare rice every day. But it isn’t long before the nuns finds Ka-Hsi an adoptive family, and she has to move away.

Fast-forward many years, and our pair are now men and leaders of a Triad gang. They have done well and have hold over Macau land from Taipa to Coloane, and now they are opening up a new nightclub. Another local gang boss is Chiu, and he wants to use Alan’s pier to load narcotics, but the brothers are not into drugs.

As a Triad, I have my own principles.

This one snipe at Chiu set’s everything in motion, as Chiu has the backing of forth Brother Ko, who doesn’t take no for an answer. Chiu has Chang picked up and roughed up, before Alan turns up in his bar. Alan doesn’t take any attitude from Chiu, and he ends up with a bullet through his skull.

The blood brothers will spill a lot more blood, as Brother Ko sets out to teach this pair the error of their fiery ways.
