4 star slick and sexy supernatural sequel.
Mayfair Witches Season 2 is a 2025 American supernatural thriller drama series based on the popular novel trilogy Lives of the Mayfair Witches written by Anne Rice (Interview with the Vampire) and the sequel to Mayfair Witches: Season 1 (which you absolutely must watch first), released in 2023.
It is available to own in the UK on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital from 25th August 2025, courtesy of Acorn Media International.
“What he gives you is not worth the cost of your soul…You don’t believe me. Read the diary that Catherine wrote, she knew what he was. And it ate her alive.”
Rowan (Alexandra Daddario – Baywatch, San Andreas) has settled into her new life as the Mayfair family designee and is living at the First Street House in New Orleans. She has given birth to the embodiment of the demonic entity Lasher (Jack Huston – Day of the Fight, American Hustle), bound to the family for generations and now made flesh.
To make this happen, he was forced to give up his powers to Rowan, who is struggling to master her new found abilities, which only function when he is nearby. To make life even more complicated, he is speeding through the growth process, reaching teenage years and adulthood in a matter of days.
As his needs begin to endanger the women of the family and with no idea as to his motivations, she is forced to call on her new found relatives for assistance, including Dolly Jean (Charlayne Woodard – Unbreakable), her sister Jojo (Jen Richards – Framing Agnes), cousin Moira (Alyssa Jirrels – This is the Year) and the despicable Cortland (Harry Hamlin – Madmen, Clash of the Titans).
She also enlists the help of old flame Sam (Ben Feldman – Little Death, Cloverfield).
The Talamasca are still on the case, with Ciprien (Tongayi Chirisa – iZombie, The Anthrax Attacks) watching the house on the orders of his boss Albrecht (Dennis Boutsikaris – Better Call Saul, Violet). What family secrets will be revealed this time and how high will the costs be?
“Don’t be so worried. It’s a miracle what you’ve done. His spirit, made into flesh. Very soon, he’ll be a grown man and surely then he will tell all of us what he wants.”
Mayfair Witches Season 2 is an excellent watch. As with the first season, the locations are sumptuously presented and glorious. Everything is larger than life and although this series has a totally different flavour to the first, it still tastes great. It drips with gothic mystery and the occasional graphic scenes are shocking enough to satisfy.
The acting is superb and the whole cast really do justice to this dysfunctional and very supernatural family. It’s faster paced than the first series and carries more of a sense of urgency, while keeping you guessing right to the end and is full of surprises. Again, a little more character development wouldn’t have gone amiss, but it is still a fun ride.
A very entertaining watch and a must own for fans of Anne Rice, young adult fiction and of course the first series.
“Somebody has to control you. You’re killing people. You were never my son.”
