Careful What You Wish For.

For over fifty years Westworld, written and directed by Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, Twister), has been the benchmark for Science Fiction android films. Now Arrow brings us the definitive 4K UHD version, brighter and scarier than ever. This is a treat for those in the know, and a revelation to those that are not aware of this awesome Sci-fi extravaganza. The 4K release comes with a plethora of special features (See Below).

It is the futuristic 1983 and the highly realistic adult amusement park called Delos is home to androids that live in three worlds, Western world, Medieval World, and Roman World where they take the most famous periods of those worlds.

These androids are maintained by an army of technicians and engineers, these are needed when you have gunfights and sword fights going on in the worlds. Not all encounters go well for the androids, who are there to pamper to the tourists every whim, especially in the hedonistic Roman world. The tourists get this freedom to do what they want for $1000 a day ($3,254 today).

Two of these tourists are Peter Martin (Richard Benjamin, The Sunshine Boys, Catch-22), a first-time Delos visitor and his friend John Blane (James Brolin, The Amityville Horror, Capricorn One) who has experienced the resort before. Peter is very excited, but unsure of the rules, but John tells him to just enjoy his stay in Western World. Once they have kitted themselves out in the period gear they head to the saloon where they meet the Gunslinger android (Yul Brynner, The King and I, The Magnificent Seven). Peter doesn’t know what to do, John tells him that the Gunslinger is there to start a gun fight, and you get to kill him. Exhilarating stuff.

After all the excitement, and everybody has hit the hay, the technicians appear and clean up the mess the humans have left. With the Gunslinger on the table he is repaired, and while were at it why don’t we upgrade his vision and hearing? What could go wrong with an upgraded Gunslinger?

The technicians notice that the androids are experiencing various breakdowns and systemic failures, and they seem to be spreading like a virus and may have spread to the Western World.

See how their next days go, in this fantastic upgrade to 4K UHD, it is a must own for Sci-fi fans.
