Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves 4K Review****-

Cert 12 | 298 mins | 1991

4 Star

4K Medieval Skulduggery.

From Arrow Video comes the definitive version of the 1991 smash hit American blockbuster, set in twelfth century feudal England. Directed by Kevin Reynolds (Fandango, The Beast of War), his first with Costner (Waterworld). You know the story now relive the movie in 4K, in the comfort of your own home, or a great Xmas gift for the fan in your house.

Robin of Locksley (Kevin Costner, Criminal, Black or White, The Bodyguard) has been locked away with his friend Peter Dubois (Liam Halligan, Banshee Blacktop, an Irish Ghost Story) in Jerusalem after following Richard the Lionheart in the third crusade. Richard is visiting France, Robin doesn’t know that, what he wants is to get out of jail. He sees a way, he and his friend make a break for it, but first they free the Moor, Azeem (Morgan Freeman, March of the Penguins 2: The Next Step, Momentum).

Back home in England, the cat is at play, as the king is away and the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman, Dogma, Galaxy Quest) is in cahoots with his cousin Guy of Gisbourne (Michael Wincott, Hitchcock, Knight of Cups), the evil witch Mortianna (Geraldine McEwan, The Magdalene Sisters, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie), and the corrupt Bishop of Hereford (Harold Innocent, Yellow Dog, Loot). Someone wants to be king.

Unfortunately, Peter Dubois doesn’t make it out of the prison, but before he succumbs to his injuries, he gets Robin to swear that he will protect his sister Marian (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, The Abyss, The Perfect Storm). The Lord of Locksley Castle (Brian Blessed, The Further Adventures of the Musketeers, The Hound of the Baskervilles), Robins father is in the way, as he supports the absent Richard. This is a shock to Robin when he and Azeem make it back to England. Someone must pay. And the rest is Folk-Lore.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves UHD [Limited Edition] is the perfect present for yourself or the Costner fan in the house. A great adventure.
