4 stars, a grand collection of funny short stories.

The original video animation based on Fate/Grand Order that was revealed during the Fate Project New Year’s Eve TV Special in 2020, Fate/Grand Carnival, is coming as a complete Blu-ray set that includes both the original Japanese audio and English dub! Be aware that this is not entry level Fate and is probably not the best way to introduce yourself to the franchise.

It is available in the UK from 6th October 2025, courtesy of MVM Films.

“Here we go again. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Fate/Grand Carnival contains OVA episodes 1-4 which include both episodes from Season 1: The First Singularity Party, Heroic Spirit Limitation Grand Festival Olympia and The Second Singularity Party, Nighttime Singularity Kabukicho; as well as The Third Singularity Party, The Documentary: Broadening Gap of Heroic Spirits ~Heroic Spirit Labor Standards Law~ and The Fourth Singularity Party, MAX Bond Channel from Season 2 all directed by Seiji Kishi.

“Hey, I am the tournament committee chair. I can’t be disqualified over some little mishap.”

It is a light hearted parody of of Fate/Grand Order which sees the entire staff of Chaldea, including Ritsuka (Lizzie Freeman – The Amazing Digital Circus), Mash (Erica MendezYour Lie in April, Kill La Kill) and Nero (Cassandra Lee MorrisTwin Star Exorcists, Coppelion) compete in an Olympia contest to cut staff numbers due to lack of resources, with disastrous consequences.

Next up we see matchmaker J. Moriarty (Kirk ThorntonPerfect Blue, Dandadan), The Laughing Bartender, and his efforts to improve the relationship between Lancelot (Kyle Hebert – Wreck-it Ralph) and his daughter Mash, though he may have misunderstood the brief. In the Second Singularity, we see Jeanne D’Arc Alter (Erika HarlacherPenguin Highway) take a job as a hostess at Club M in the Kabukicho district, but can she keep her temper under control and compete with the four elites?

In the second episode, we see former pirate Blackbeard, a.k.a. Edward Teach (Jason Marnocha – Devil May Cry) who doesn’t like the confines of his star ranking and wants an opportunity to level up and have something to do. The staff are restless and that never goes well. Finally, we meet Dumuzid (Daman MillsTokyo Ghoul: re), the radiant sheep, who encourages Ereshkigal (Mela Lee – DC Dark Legion (Video Game)) to set up her own ServantTube channel to capture the attention of Ritsuka.

“Yes, I know my wool is glorious. However, wool will not help you change your situation. You need the power of appeal.”

This release includes a special 16-page booklet housed in a rigid artbox. It is thoroughly enjoyable and while not for the uninitiated, fans of the franchise will love to add this to their collection.

Fate Grand Carnival is available now on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray.
