3 Star
For Greed, Crime, and Family.
Written and directed by John Swab (King Ivory, Body Brokers), who brings us an action film that pulls no punches, as action star Frank Grillo (Wolf Warrior 2, Demonic, The Gateway) takes the lead in this twisty search-and-rescue thriller. An International problem has arisen, and it is down to a four-man team to sort it out, and bring home a family member.
In the dark hours of Venezuelan airspace, a helicopter flies across the tree tops, as Gunner (Frank Grillo), Matty (George Carroll, Gone
Baby Gone, The Town), West (Beau Knapp, The Nice Guys, Destroyer), and radio operator and surveillance expert David (Josh Hutcherson, Red Dawn, Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1) touchdown they head off into the jungle.
Why are they here? Well things have gone wrong, very wrong for North California’s Senator Olivia Peterson (Melissa Leo, The Fighter, Prisoners) as she set up a private contracting company to run the newly found oil reserves buried beneath Venezuela, but in
this country everything is run by criminal drug cartels. Roman (Andy Garcia, Book Club, Ocean’s Eleven) is the man running the contracting company and he has kidnapped the Senator’s daughter, who is also Gunner’s Niece Julia (Eden Brolin, Yellowstone (TV Series), Arkansas). Julia is a woman on a mission, and she has a taped interview that implicates a lot of influential people and Roman wants to erase it, so it can never be broadcast.
So this is a race to find Julia and escape the country, sounds easy enough, but you know things are going to get twisty, and they do. With Narco’s on the left, citizens on the right, there’s Gunner stuck in the middle with his weapons, things will go Boom, in this fast-paced action crime thriller.
Great to see Frank Grillo taking the lead, he has the action moves.
