What Would You Do to Save Your Son.

The Vanished comes from the pen of Peter May, ‘The Killing Room’ (High Road (TV Series)), and adapted for the screen by French director Denis Dercourt (My Children Are Different, Tomorrow at Dawn), which explains this Transcontinental crime thriller. A complex forensic tale, as police try to find the mystery murderers.

While looking after his complaining mother, she misses her carer, he gets a call from his boss, he has to go to work, with luggage loaded into his car. The luggage man (Moo-Seong Choi, I Saw the Devil, Missing Person) heads into Seoul where he heads into the Miho Plastic Surgery, but he does it via the basement where we see a man pick up a donor medical box, who passes the man in green hospital garb a bag full of money. We know something dodgy is going on, as we see someone hacking the I.O.D (International Observatory on Donation and Transplantations) to say that a donor organ of blood-type B- has been found.

A month later, we see where the suitcases ended up, and more importantly what was in them. An unidentifiable female body, due to the conditions where the body was found and the time factor, but there is hope as Inspector Jin-ho Park (Yoo Yeon-Seok, Oldboy, Steel Rain 2) calls in Dr Alice Launey (Olga Kurylenko, Oblivion, Quantum of Solace) a cutting edge forensic expert.

Park meets Alice at a symposium, with her liaison Lee Mi-Sook (Ji-won Ye, Invitation, Homme Fatale). He explains his dilemma and she agrees to use her new technique on the decomposed remains (not for the squeamish), they manage to get a set of fingerprints. Now the hunt is on to find who and where these bodies are coming from.

The Vanished is a great tale of a cat-and-mouse chase as they try to work out what has happened to these bodies. Definitely one to add to your Mystery film file.

Signature Entertainment presents The Vanished on Digital Platforms, 7th November.
