A Wake-up Call!
Writer Alex Vincent Blumberg (Bridge the Gap: Haiti) follows up his 2020 feature, Escape from Extinction, with a ray of hope in Rewilding. Directed by Producer Matthew R. Brady who manages to show all the damage we have done to the planet and the wildlife that once inhabited it. But with the help of scientists, Professors, Doctors, Government Agencies, and those with boots on the ground, they are trying to reverse the damage done and repopulate each and every ecosystem, using careful studies to do the right thing. This is all held together by the multi Oscar winner Meryl Streep (Out of Africa, August: Osage County, The Devil Wears Prada).
This documentary should be shown in every school, college, University, youth club, everywhere, at every age, and it should inspire to just “Do one Thing” whether it be for the large or the tiny. Very inspiring to do the right thing.
Escape From Extinction: Rewilding isn’t an in-your-face film trying to get you off your butt to do something radical like mass lobbying, no this beautifully filmed documentary shows the mistakes we have made in ecosystems, whether it be from war torn Rwanda, or the deforestation of our planets’ jungles, or our uneducated attempts to solve a problem that affected our crop production, (the Cane Toad from Central America to Australia, Rabbits and foxes, to remove the rabbits, which affect the indigenous fauna).
Everybody thinks of the “Big Five” of Africa (Lions, Leopards, Rhinoceros, Cape Buffalo, Mountain Gorillas) and Rwanda had this problem from poachers and civil wars that displaced hundreds of thousands of humans, who came into conflict with the animals of the Akagera National Park. But through the realization that tourism is the way forward and spreading the wealth with those that live in proximity to the animals that protecting them instead of poaching them is a much better deal for all.
This film is full of our mistakes and these experts and breeding programs all around the world can help ecosystems back to a better place. We thank you for all your efforts and the efforts of those that may be inspired by this feature documentary. It may not be a perfect picture and there will be arguments on the way forward, but it is the best we know at this time. Awe-inspiring.
A Must-See.
