The time of festive cheer is almost upon us yet again and Road Rash Reviews is here to help with some suggestions for last minute stocking fillers.
There have been some exciting releases this year and of course probably the most exciting of all was The Hobbit 3D Extended Version box set featuring all three of the films plus lots and lots of special features across 15 discs.
2015 has seen the release of some real classics too, with The Goonies 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition Blu-ray box set and the iconic The Lost Boys being brought to Blu-ray for the first time. Peter Straub’s Ghost Story starring Fred Astaire and a host of other stars also made it to Blu-ray for the first time in 2015.
We also saw the magical release of the 1986 film adaptation of the Christmas ballet, Nutcracker: The Motion Picture. Another festive offering (although this one is not for the whole family) is the fabulous A Christmas Horror Story, starring William Shatner and of course the best Christmas morning sci-fi film ever, Robinson Crusoe On Mars.
For a thrilling Christmas evening, why not try unwrapping the terrifying The Gift or watching the heavyweight performance of Jake Gyllenhaal in the brilliant Southpaw. There is also the awesome drama Black Or White starring Kevin Costner and large scale disaster in the form of San Andreas 3D starring Dwayne Johnson a.k.a. The Rock.
If you feel like a bit of comedy is in order, then cop comedy Hot Pursuit with Reese Witherspoon, epic B movie sequel Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No and Vacation (sequel to the National Lampoon films) should be right up your alley.
A Sicilian Dream would be a great gift for the petrol head in your life, an in depth documentary about one of the most famous street races, the Targa Florio.
Finally, for the anime fans among you, there have been lots of highlights this year including crazy crime caper Baccano!, magical girl fun with Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya and not to forget Dragon Ball Z Kai season 3.
Well, there you have it, this year’s recommendations for your festive viewing pleasure. On behalf of RoadRash Reviews we would like to wish all our readers a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
