I’m Living With an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!? is a 2026 anime based on the Japanese web manga series of the same name, storyboarded by Yakitomato and illustrated by Kotatsu.

“Since the beginning of ancient times, Yoma have come for your type, with Warrior blood flowing in them. I am the blade of justice that protects you from the shadows. I’m Ninja.”
Tsukasa Atsumi (Adam Gibbs – Iroduku: The World in Colours, Penguindrum) is your average (if accident prone) salary man, living in the big city. One night while walking home from work, he sees a steel beam falling towards him and realises his number is up. To his surprise, he is saved at the last moment by a young woman who suddenly appears as if from nowhere.
She announces that her name is Shizuri (Alyssa Marek – 2.5 Dimensional Seduction, Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero), a Kunoichi (Ninja) who has left her village and will protect him from the Yoma (ghosts) who are now bound to attack him as his Warrior blood has awakened. As an office worker, he is obviously a bit sceptical about this, but when the proof appears in the shape of a huge monster, he agrees to a contract with her.
She moves in with him and he soon learns that she is a NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) as well as an Otaku (a super fan obsessed with all things anime and gaming). Specifically, all she wants to do is spend all day playing computer games. This is fine with him, he has a good job and enjoys the company. What he doesn’t enjoy are the incursions by other Ninja from the same village, including the psycho lesbian Ayame (Karlii Hoch – Ragna Crimson, My Instant Death Ability is Overpowered) and her jealousy, the uber bad luck Hina (Natalie Rial – Call of the Night, Log Horizon) and Saya (Patricia Duran – Management of a Novice Alchemist, Assassins Pride) Shizuri’s former instructor and landlady of their apartment building. Can this budding romance survive against all the odds?
“Oh, also, my name is Shizuri, I’m a Kunoichi and shut-in gamer. Glad to meet you, now let’s have fun.”
I’m Living With an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!? is a very enjoyable watch. It’s a fun story and doesn’t lean too heavily into fan service as anime of this kind often do, at least not until the end of the series, when it all kicks off. The characters are engaging although sometimes irritating and a bit lascivious.
There are some strange and potentially unnecessary plot elements too but it’s still a good watch all told.
The only thing that is slightly annoying is the format of the episodes, they are split into twelve minute segments, meaning that you get the opening and ending credits twice as often as usual, a little bit wearing after a while. It also seems to run out of storyline for the last few episodes, before pulling it back at the end. All in all though this is a good release and definitely worth adding to your anime collection.
“I’m a Kunoichi and a genius at battling Yoma. So basically I’m really awesome at fighting games too. Oh, come on, I’ll go easy on you, promise.”
I’m Living With an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!? is available to own now on Blu-ray.
