A Brutal Future.

Following on from Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms. It is many years later on Earthrealm, and it is not a place you want to be. This adult animation comes from the minds of Ed Boon and John Tobias, who created the Mortal Kombat franchise. Directed by animation veteran Rick Morales (Batman VS Two-Face, Lego Scooby-Doo!: Haunted Hollywood) who brings us the brutal tale of revenge.

Earthrealm is a wasteland as the Earth has been ravaged by the revenants (zombies), and now humans huddle together in little villages hidden away in the wasteland. Humans live in fear of King Kano (David Wenham, 300 Rise of an Empire, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers) and his band of Black Dragons, that take over each town, one by one and makes the inhabitants bow and pledge elegance to him, the alternative is death in one gruesome way or another.

The Black Dragons have discovered a new town, and they are on their way to liberate this town, and bring it under the wing of Kano. The announcement of the new owner of the town is delivered by Shang Tsung (Artt Butler, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms) who hides a deadly secret.

Out in the wasteland, a scarred man, Kuai Liang (Ron Yuan, Forbidden Warrior, Fast & Furious) tends his farm after waking from a repeating nightmare. He tends his chickens and harvests his corn and fruits, then hitches his horse and heads out into the wasteland to deliver his produce to the nearby town. On the way, he hears the roars of an engine, it’s the Black Dragon, and he tries to get away but is easily caught by the big vehicle. It just happens to be Kano’s personal guards Kira (Courtenay Taylor, Star Wars: The Old Republic (Video Game), Diablo III (Video Game)), Kabal (Keith Silverstein, Vinland Saga (TV Series), Penguin Highway), and Kobra (Yuri Lowenthal, RWBY (TV Series), Boruto: Naruto Next Generations (TV Series)), ruthless people out looking for opportunities for themselves. They loot Liang’s wagon and leave the old man battered and bruised. But they know that the old man must have been taking his goods somewhere close by.

It doesn’t take them long to find the town nestled in amongst the large sand dunes. This town has a young fighter in it, Kenshi Takahashi (Manny Jacinto, Top Gun: Maverick, Even Lambs Have Teeth) and he wants to be the best fighter of all time. But Kano has other ideas on that. So does Shang Tsung, but you’ll find out about that later.

After Kenshi has a run in with Tsung, he is left a changed man, but with a magic sword he finds maybe his life isn’t over, if only someone would train him.

Help me!… Of course, I will help you. Come. I will find us supplies. And then you will have your power. And your revenge.
