Happy Halloween from Road Rash Reviews!

The witching hour is almost upon us again, the clocks have gone back, the nights are getting longer and colder and the things that go bump in the night grow ever bolder.

With this in mind, here at Road Rash, we have put together a selection of our favourite horror releases this year, so carve out a spot on your sofa and settle in for a (trick or) treat!

First up and the jewel in the crown of this year’s Halloween guide is the magnificent 7 disc 4K box set of the A Nightmare on Elm Street Collection, a must own for horror fans.

For those of us who enjoy their horror with a healthy dose of comedy, there have been some corkers this year, including British black comedy horror Severance in glorious 4K, American horror/thriller The Ambulance and the remastered version of the hilarious Doctor Vampire on Blu-ray.

This hilarious comedy horror comes from the pen and direction of actor Jamie Luk (Love with the Perfect Stranger, Rumble in the Bronx, Robotrix) courtesy of Golden Harvest Presentation (My favourite intro music). If you enjoy a longer format, there have been some excellent horror TV series released this year, including the fantastic and brutal The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 1 and 2 boxset, Season 2 of the spooky Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches and if you prefer your horror animated, the brilliantly disturbing anime series Dark Gathering.

There have of course also been plenty of imaginative and gruesomely entertaining new releases. We especially enjoyed the period horror Borley Rectory: The Awakening, shocking possession horror When Evil Lurks, the clever Talk To Me, low budget but enthusiastic It Feeds, terrifying haunted house tale I Will Never Leave You Alone and new entry into the V/H/S franchise, V/H/S Beyond.
