4 Star

Never Cross a Man with a Plan.

From the writer, creator and producer of Ozark Mark Williams (A Family Man) brings us his second direction of a major A list star, in this all action all drama, you shouldn’t have crossed Liam Neeson (Road, The Lego Movie, Unknown, Cold Pursuit, Non Stop, Taken) film. It’s an honest, simple action drama.

From the start, it is obvious that the ‘In-and-out-bandit’ is Tom Dolan (Liam Neeson) (he does use aliases), a man that has robbed eight banks in six years. He doesn’t leave any clues and the FBI have no idea who this robber is, but we know. He has amassed millions of dollars.

One day he goes to a self storage company where he meets Annie Wilkins (Kate Walsh, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Grey’s Anatomy (TV Series)) the owner of the storage company, a year later and Tom is asking Annie to move in with him. That is the first thing he wanted to tell her, there is one more thing, but he doesn’t get to tell her.

He wanted to tell her that he is the much disliked name, the ‘in-and-out-bandit’. So he phones Samuel Baker (Robert Patrick, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Faculty), whose partner at the FBI Sean Meyers (Jeffrey Donovan, Sicario 2: Soldado, Extinction) has just gone through a messy divorce. Over the last few years there have been people have been claiming to be the robber, so when Tom put his claim in they are very sceptical about Tom and just to get him off his back he gives the case file to partner’s John Nivens (Jai Courtney, A Good Day to Die Hard, Divergent) and Ramon Hall (Anthony Ramos, A Star Is Born, Patti Cake$). Tom wants a deal for handing back nine-million dollars, he wants to be in a low security prison around Boston so he and Annie can be close, and no longer than two years,  for being an honest thief. His reasons for being a robber will be revealed, but not by me.

It turns out that when Tom tells them the story about his past indiscretions they don’t believe him, but as a token of trust he tells them to go to his storage unit, where the money is stored. The pair as a gesture humour him, but when they find boxes of cash, Niven’s spots an opportunity and persuades his partner to join in. Cash is king.

That was their first mistake, the second was trying to frame Tom for a crime he didn’t commit, and we all know that Tom will have a specific set of skills that will help him in this situation. Let the action begin. Ace, it is what it is, Liam Neeson doing his thing.
